The CIS footwear treatments market shrank to $X in 2022, declining by -3.6% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, saw a deep slump. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to footwear treatments exports from Russia stood at +3.4%. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+23.8%) and Uzbekistan (+20.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +23.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-2.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest footwear treatments supplier in the CIS, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 3.9% share.

In Russia, footwear treatments exports expanded at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (-1.8% per year) and Kazakhstan (+12.2% per year).

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of polishes and creams for footwear or leather, when their volume increased by 24% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, footwear treatments imports rose significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Russia (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) represented roughly 67% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Azerbaijan (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons), together generating a 23% share of total imports. Belarus (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Kyrgyzstan (with a CAGR of +26.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported polishes and creams for footwear or leather in the CIS, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Azerbaijan, with a 6.5% share.
