Positive Displacement Pump Market Size in CIS

The CIS positive displacement pump market shrank to $X in 2021, with a decrease of -4.8% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, shipments abroad of positive displacement pumps and hand pumps decreased by -20.8% to X units for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, posted a notable expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 76%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, positive displacement pump exports declined significantly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 107% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

Russia prevails in exports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 88% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), making up a 9.3% share of total exports. Kazakhstan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to positive displacement pump exports from Russia stood at +11.7%. At the same time, Belarus (+18.0%) and Kazakhstan (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +18.0% from 2012-2021. The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -8.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 80%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports in CIS

Positive displacement pump imports fell modestly to X units in 2021, shrinking by -4% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 230%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, positive displacement pump imports expanded significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

Russia dominates imports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 91% of total imports in 2021. The following importers - Kazakhstan (X units) and Belarus (X units) - each finished at a 7.8% share of total imports.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the positive displacement pumps and hand pumps imports, with a CAGR of +29.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+22.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Belarus (-6.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Russia (+38 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Belarus (-37.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
