In 2022, the CIS poultry incubator market increased by 9.3% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after six years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a deep setback. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, overseas shipments of poultry incubators and brooders decreased by -22.3% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, posted strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 164%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In value terms, poultry incubator exports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 171% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Russia (X units) represented the key exporter of poultry incubators and brooders, committing 79% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X units), making up a 16% share of total exports. The following exporters - Moldova (X units) and Belarus (X units) - together made up 4.6% of total exports.

Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +9.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+171.1%), Moldova (+8.4%) and Belarus (+5.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +171.1% from 2012-2022. While the share of Uzbekistan (+16 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Russia (-8.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest poultry incubator supplier in the CIS, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Moldova, with a 3.3% share.

In Russia, poultry incubator exports expanded at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+150.8% per year) and Moldova (+12.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, rising by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Moldova (+4.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Poultry incubator imports skyrocketed to X units in 2022, growing by 195% against 2021 figures. In general, imports saw a tangible expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, poultry incubator imports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 42%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Russia dominates imports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 81% of total imports in 2022. Kazakhstan (X units) held a 7.1% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Uzbekistan (5.6%). The following importers - Azerbaijan (X units) and Tajikistan (X units) - each recorded a 3.8% share of total imports.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Tajikistan (+29.3%) and Uzbekistan (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Tajikistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +29.3% from 2012-2022. Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Azerbaijan (-7.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan increased by +6.2, +5.6 and +1.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported poultry incubators and brooders in the CIS, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 15% share.

In Russia, poultry incubator imports declined by an average annual rate of -13.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (-0.2% per year) and Uzbekistan (+4.9% per year).
