The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Belarus represented the main exporter of printing ink in the CIS, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 61% of total exports in 2022. Russia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 23% share, followed by Uzbekistan (11%). Kazakhstan (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
Exports from Belarus increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+177.7%), Kazakhstan (+35.8%) and Russia (+20.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +177.7% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan increased by +17, +11 and +3.5 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Belarus ($X), Russia ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 88% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Uzbekistan, which accounted for a further 9.8%.
Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +231.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 11% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+19.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in CIS
In 2022, approx. X tons of printing ink were imported in the CIS; surging by 2.7% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, printing ink imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a mild expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 21%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Russia (X tons) was the largest importer of printing ink, mixing up 67% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), making up a 20% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to printing ink imports into Russia stood at -1.5%. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+19.4%), Kazakhstan (+5.2%), Belarus (+3.6%) and Uzbekistan (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +19.4% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan increased by +5.5, +4, +1.7 and +1.6 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported printing ink in the CIS, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 7.4% share.
In Russia, printing ink imports shrank by an average annual rate of -1.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (+3.2% per year) and Kazakhstan (+7.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, surging by 3.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 10%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
