The yield figure increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the yield increased by 61% against the previous year. As a result, the yield reached the peak level of X tons per ha. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the raspberry and blackberry yield remained at a lower figure. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.
In 2022, the total area harvested in terms of raspberries and blackberries production in the CIS contracted to X ha, which is down by -3.2% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, the harvested area saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 36%. As a result, the harvested area reached the peak level of X ha. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the raspberry and blackberry harvested area remained at a lower figure.

Exports in CIS
In 2022, approx. X tons of raspberries and blackberries were exported in the CIS; with an increase of 65% on the year before. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 265% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, raspberry and blackberry exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 138% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Kyrgyzstan (X tons) was the key exporter of raspberries and blackberries, generating 64% of total exports. Moldova (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Azerbaijan (X tons). All these countries together held near 31% share of total exports. The following exporters - Belarus (X tons) and Armenia (X tons) - together made up 4.8% of total exports.
Exports from Kyrgyzstan increased at an average annual rate of +34.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+125.4%), Armenia (+62.4%), Moldova (+55.3%) and Belarus (+44.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +125.4% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Azerbaijan, Moldova and Armenia increased by +14, +12 and +1.5 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Moldova ($X) remains the largest raspberry and blackberry supplier in the CIS, comprising 46% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Azerbaijan, with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Moldova totaled +90.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kyrgyzstan (+19.0% per year) and Azerbaijan (+116.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -16% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 57%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Moldova (+22.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in CIS
After two years of growth, purchases abroad of raspberries and blackberries decreased by -11.7% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 89% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, raspberry and blackberry imports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 75% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
Imports by Country
Russia represented the key importer of raspberries and blackberries in the CIS, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was near 82% of total imports in 2022. Kazakhstan (X tons) held a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Belarus (5.2%).
Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Belarus (+36.1%) and Kazakhstan (+15.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +36.1% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Belarus and Kazakhstan increased by +4.6 and +4.5 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported raspberries and blackberries in the CIS, comprising 94% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 3.8% share of total imports.
In Russia, raspberry and blackberry imports increased at an average annual rate of +8.6% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+11.0% per year) and Belarus (+30.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 4.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the import price increased by 113% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (-0.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
