Reclaimed Rubber Market Size in CIS

The CIS reclaimed rubber market was estimated at $X in 2021, growing by 7.3% against the previous year. Exports in CIS

Reclaimed rubber exports expanded sharply to X tons in 2021, growing by 9.2% compared with the previous year. Overall, exports enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 125% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, reclaimed rubber exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 81% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Belarus (X tons) represented the main exporter of reclaimed rubber, committing 86% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tons), achieving a 14% share of total exports.

Belarus was also the fastest-growing in terms of the reclaimed rubber exports, with a CAGR of +13.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Russia (+8.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus increased by +9.2 percentage points.

In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the largest reclaimed rubber supplier in the CIS, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 32% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, rising by 25% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a perceptible setback. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (-0.2%).

Reclaimed Rubber Imports

Imports in CIS

In 2021, the amount of reclaimed rubber imported in the CIS contracted modestly to X tons, reducing by -2.9% on 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 104%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, reclaimed rubber imports rose sharply to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -34.4% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 90%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia prevails in imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 85% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), comprising a 9.9% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to reclaimed rubber imports into Russia stood at +10.3%. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+22.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +22.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Belarus (-5.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Russia (+20 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+3.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Belarus (-19.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported reclaimed rubber in the CIS, comprising 83% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with an 11% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia amounted to +4.6%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (-9.4% per year) and Kazakhstan (+12.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (-4.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
