Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 66%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs at X tons in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, imports of sunflower-seed or safflower oil, refined, but not chemically modified soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 58%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Uzbekistan was the main importing country with an import of about X tons, which recorded 40% of total imports. In value terms, Uzbekistan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported sunflower-seed or safflower oil, refined, but not chemically modified in the CIS, comprising 43% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 13% share.
