In 2022, the amount of road wheels exported in the CIS rose slightly to X tons, surging by 1.7% against the year before. In general, exports saw a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 38%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, road wheel exports expanded rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

Russia represented the key exporter of road wheels in the CIS, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was near 66% of total exports in 2022. Belarus (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 33% share of total exports.

Exports from Russia increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+47.2%), Kazakhstan (+31.9%) and Belarus (+7.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +47.2% from 2012-2022. While the share of Uzbekistan (+5.9 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+4.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Belarus (-1.9 p.p.) and Russia (-8.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the largest road wheel supplying countries in the CIS were Russia ($X), Belarus ($X) and Uzbekistan ($X), with a combined 91% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +56.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 11% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+13.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of road wheels imported in the CIS contracted to X tons, declining by -1.7% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports saw a mild setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 36%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, road wheel imports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Russia represented the key importer of road wheels in the CIS, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was approx. 76% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons) and Belarus (X tons), together mixing up a 19% share of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to road wheel imports into Russia stood at -2.6%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+33.2%) and Kazakhstan (+13.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +33.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-1.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kazakhstan (+8.7 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+3.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -13.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported road wheels in the CIS, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 6.8% share.

In Russia, road wheel imports declined by an average annual rate of -4.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+11.6% per year) and Belarus (+1.7% per year).
