In value terms, roasted molybdenum ores and concentrates exports reduced to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 73%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Kazakhstan was the major exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded 76% of total exports. Russia (X tons) held a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Armenia (11%).
Kazakhstan was also the fastest-growing in terms of the roasted molybdenum ores and concentrateses exports, with a CAGR of -4.3% from 2012 to 2021. Russia (-7.8%) and Armenia (-9.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Armenia (+11 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan and Russia saw its share reduced by -2.5% and -5.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest roasted molybdenum ores and concentrates supplier in the CIS, comprising 78% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with an 11% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Armenia (+11.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
In 2021, supplies from abroad of roasted molybdenum ores and concentrateses decreased by -25.6% to X tons, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports showed a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 289%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, roasted molybdenum ores and concentrates imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 302%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
Russia prevails in imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 86% of total imports in 2021. Kazakhstan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Belarus (X tons). All these countries together held near 11% share of total imports. Armenia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to roasted molybdenum ores and concentrates imports into Russia stood at -4.6%. At the same time, Armenia (+163.4%) and Belarus (+77.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Armenia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +163.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-12.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus, Russia and Armenia increased by +5, +3.3 and +2.1 percentage points, respectively.

In Russia, roasted molybdenum ores and concentrates imports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belarus (+68.8% per year) and Kazakhstan (-19.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, surging by 55% against the previous year. Import price indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, roasted molybdenum ores and concentrates import price increased by +76.8% against 2018 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
