In 2021, the CIS harvesting machinery market increased by 2.9% to $X for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year declining trend. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a noticeable descent. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -13.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the export price increased by 14% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus amounted to $X per unit.

In 2021, purchases abroad of root or tuber harvesting machines was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 44% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, harvesting machinery imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Russia represented the main importer of root or tuber harvesting machines in the CIS, with the volume of imports amounting to X units, which was near 62% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units) and Kazakhstan (X units), together creating a 36% share of total imports.

Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -7.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+12.5%) displayed positive paces of growth.
