The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, which is down by -32.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a deep setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus totaled $X per unit.

In 2021, purchases abroad of safety or relief valves for pipes, boiler shells, tanks and vats increased by 11% to X units, rising for the fifth year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, imports recorded resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, safety valve imports declined to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 20%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
Russia prevails in imports structure, resulting at X units, which was near 78% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), generating a 9.1% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units), Uzbekistan (X units) and Azerbaijan (X units) took a minor share of total imports.
Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+33.2%) and Belarus (+13.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +33.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-4.5%) and Azerbaijan (-6.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Russia (+16 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+4.3 p.p.) and Belarus (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -8.6% and -11.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported safety or relief valves for pipes, boiler shells, tanks and vats in the CIS, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Azerbaijan ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 9.2% share.
In Russia, safety valve imports increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Azerbaijan (-1.2% per year) and Kazakhstan (-8.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -19.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 8.6% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Azerbaijan (+5.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
