Sausage Market Size in CIS

In 2021, the CIS sausage market increased by 3.9% to $X, rising for the fifth year in a row after four years of decline. In general, consumption recorded a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the market value increased by 5.1% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Russia stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (-2.1%).

In 2021, purchases abroad of sausages and similar products of meat increased by 19% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 20%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Kazakhstan (X tons) and Russia (X tons) prevails in imports structure, together creating 87% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Azerbaijan (X tons), constituting a 6% share of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) and Armenia (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Azerbaijan (with a CAGR of +26.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X), Russia ($X) and Azerbaijan ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 92% of total imports.

Azerbaijan, with a CAGR of +24.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, rising by 11% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
