The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, self-propelled boring machinery exports contracted modestly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a noticeable setback. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +26.0% from 2012-2022. While the share of Kazakhstan (+12 p.p.) and Azerbaijan (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Belarus (-3.9 p.p.) and Russia (-7.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest self-propelled boring machinery supplier in the CIS, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 13% share.
In Russia, self-propelled boring machinery exports plunged by an average annual rate of -5.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+40.1% per year) and Belarus (+0.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, declining by -30.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a abrupt slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 51%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per unit), while Russia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, imports of self-propelled boring or sinking machinery in the CIS surged to X units, rising by 36% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, self-propelled boring machinery imports fell to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 65% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

By contrast, Azerbaijan (-4.7%) and Kazakhstan (-6.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Uzbekistan (+8.1 p.p.) and Russia (+6.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -8.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported self-propelled boring or sinking machinery in the CIS, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 7.7% share.
In Russia, self-propelled boring machinery imports declined by an average annual rate of -5.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (-4.0% per year) and Uzbekistan (+5.5% per year).
