In value terms, ski-suit exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 255%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Belarus dominates exports structure, accounting for X units, which was near 88% of total exports in 2021. Moldova (X units), Russia (X units), Kyrgyzstan (X units) and Armenia (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.

Belarus was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles) exports, with a CAGR of +109.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kyrgyzstan (+38.0%), Moldova (+32.2%), Russia (+15.3%) and Armenia (+5.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Belarus (+88 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Kyrgyzstan (-2.4 p.p.), Moldova (-9.8 p.p.), Russia (-34.3 p.p.) and Armenia (-39.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Belarus ($X) emerged as the largest ski-suit supplier in the CIS, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Moldova ($X), with a 7% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with a 5.5% share.

In Belarus, ski-suit exports increased at an average annual rate of +93.2% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Moldova (+34.7% per year) and Russia (+19.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -48.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Armenia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kyrgyzstan (+5.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles), when their volume increased by 58% to X units. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 481% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, ski-suit imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 615%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Russia (X units) represented the major importer of ski-suits (excluding of knitted or crocheted textiles), making up 77% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), achieving an 18% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X units) and Moldova (X units) held a little share of total imports.

Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -5.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belarus (+56.5%) and Moldova (+9.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 2.3% share.

In Russia, ski-suit imports shrank by an average annual rate of -2.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (+43.0% per year) and Kazakhstan (-17.3% per year).
