Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per unit), while Russia amounted to $X per unit.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+2.0%).

Drawing board imports expanded rapidly to X units in 2022, picking up by 14% compared with the previous year. Total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +90.2% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X units) and Uzbekistan (X units), together comprising a 37% share of total imports. Belarus (X units), Moldova (X units), Armenia (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.

Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -3.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+31.3%), Kyrgyzstan (+15.0%), Armenia (+12.8%), Kazakhstan (+10.3%), Moldova (+8.7%) and Belarus (+5.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +31.3% from 2012-2022. Uzbekistan (+14 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (+13 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -33.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported slates and boards with writing or drawing surfaces in the CIS, comprising 54% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia amounted to -3.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+4.7% per year) and Uzbekistan (+52.4% per year).

In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, declining by -8.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a mild reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+16.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
