Spice Production in CIS

In value terms, spice production declined markedly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production recorded a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, spice exports dropped markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Russia represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), making up a X% share of total exports.

Russia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the spices exports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. For the eighth year in a row, the CIS recorded growth in supplies from abroad of spices, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded prominent growth. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, spice imports shrank to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by X%. Russia was the main importer of spices in the CIS, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was near X% of total imports in 2022.
