Belarus (-2.3%) and Uzbekistan (-43.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Imports in CIS

In 2022, the amount of spindles and spindle flyers, spinning ring and ring travellers imported in the CIS reduced dramatically to X tons, with a decrease of -49.8% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 150% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.

In value terms, spindles and spindle flyer imports stood at $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 419% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Uzbekistan dominates imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 81% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons), together committing a 15% share of total imports. Azerbaijan (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to spindles and spindle flyer imports into Uzbekistan stood at -8.2%. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+43.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +43.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Russia (-10.2%) and Belarus (-16.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan increased by +81 and +2.6 percentage points, respectively.
