Plastic support exports expanded slightly to X tons in 2022, increasing by 3.7% against the year before. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 13%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, plastic support exports rose sharply to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +83.8% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 18% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

In 2022, Belarus (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the major exporters of spools, cops and similar supports of plastics in the CIS, together mixing up 70% of total exports. Moldova (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 17% share, followed by Kazakhstan (11%). Uzbekistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +54.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Belarus ($X), Russia ($X) and Moldova ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 89% share of total exports. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 11%.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +61.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, surging by 6% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 15% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, plastic support imports in the CIS expanded sharply to X tons, with an increase of 7.5% against the previous year. Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.3% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 33%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +59.3% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

Russia was the largest importing country with an import of about X tons, which resulted at 55% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Belarus (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 29% share of total imports. The following importers - Armenia (X tons), Azerbaijan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) - each recorded a 13% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic support imports into Russia stood at +5.5%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+18.7%), Armenia (+16.4%), Belarus (+8.6%), Kyrgyzstan (+8.2%) and Azerbaijan (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +18.7% from 2012-2022. Kazakhstan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Uzbekistan (+7.9 p.p.), Armenia (+2.6 p.p.) and Belarus (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Azerbaijan, Russia and Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -2.1%, -3.4% and -8.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported spools, cops and similar supports of plastics in the CIS, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 9.7% share.

In Russia, plastic support imports increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+0.7% per year) and Belarus (+7.0% per year).

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -3.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 13%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
