In 2022, Moldova (X tons) and Russia (X tons) represented the key exporters of spools, cops, bobbins and similar supports of plastics in the CIS, together committing 79% of total exports. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, imports of spools, cops, bobbins and similar supports of plastics in the CIS surged to X tons, jumping by 30% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports showed a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 72% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, plastic supports imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a strong expansion. In value terms, Russia ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Belarus ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 77% share of total imports. Moldova, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.

Moldova, with a CAGR of +45.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 10% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Azerbaijan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
