From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Kazakhstan (with a CAGR of +33.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest starter motor supplier in the CIS, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 27% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia stood at +5.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (-16.5% per year) and Kazakhstan (+23.4% per year).

In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, rising by 45% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+0.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
Starter motor imports soared to X units in 2021, rising by 20% compared with the previous year. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 34%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, starter motor imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a slight descent. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Russia dominates imports structure, resulting at X units, which was approx. 72% of total imports in 2021. Kazakhstan (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Belarus (X units) and Uzbekistan (X units). All these countries together held approx. 23% share of total imports. Azerbaijan (X units) held a little share of total imports.
Imports into Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -2.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+36.5%), Uzbekistan (+35.5%), Kazakhstan (+3.9%) and Belarus (+2.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +36.5% from 2012-2021. While the share of Uzbekistan (+6.6 p.p.), Azerbaijan (+3 p.p.), Kazakhstan (+2.6 p.p.) and Belarus (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Russia (-14.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported starter motors and dual purpose starter generators in the CIS, comprising 82% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 7.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 4.3% share.
In Russia, starter motor imports shrank by an average annual rate of -2.4% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (+2.1% per year) and Belarus (+0.3% per year).

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 11% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 14%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
