Uzbekistan was the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for 47% of total exports. Kazakhstan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Russia (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 51% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +138.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Sulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates imports was estimated at X tons in 2022, picking up by 5.7% on the year before. Total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -11.9% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 27% against the previous year. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +29.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 18%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Russia was the largest importer of sulphides, polysulphides, dithionites and sulphoxylates in the CIS, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was near 48% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Armenia (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons), together generating a 47% share of total imports. Azerbaijan (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

Azerbaijan, with a CAGR of +14.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 10% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the import price increased by 31%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
