The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +101.0% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 41%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Russia prevails in exports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 92% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - Moldova (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) - each reached a 7.7% share of total exports.

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of sunflower oilcake. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+32.8%) and Moldova (+3.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +32.8% from 2012-2021. Kazakhstan (+3.4 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -4.2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest sunflower oilcake supplier in the CIS, comprising 92% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 4.1% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia amounted to +2.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+43.8% per year) and Moldova (+5.8% per year).

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 31%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to sunflower oilcake imports into Belarus stood at -4.2%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+23.4%), Azerbaijan (+3.4%) and Armenia (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +23.4% from 2012-2021. Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Uzbekistan (+7.4 p.p.) and Azerbaijan (+2.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Belarus (-10.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Belarus ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported sunflower oilcake in the CIS, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 7.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Azerbaijan, with a 5.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Belarus totaled -2.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+44.0% per year) and Azerbaijan (+8.6% per year).

Import price indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Uzbekistan ($X per ton) and Armenia ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) and Azerbaijan ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+16.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
