Kazakhstan (X tons) took a 4.8% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Moldova (4.6%). The following exporters - Belarus (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) - each recorded a 7.9% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer exports from Russia stood at +10.8%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+30.5%), Belarus (+8.3%) and Kazakhstan (+7.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +30.5% from 2012-2021. Moldova experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Russia and Uzbekistan increased by +4.7 and +3.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest sweet biscuit, waffle and wafer supplier in the CIS, comprising 83% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 5% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 4.4% share.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers increased by 13% to X tons, rising for the fifth consecutive year after three years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Total imports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last nine years. In 2021, Kazakhstan (X tons), Russia (X tons) and Belarus (X tons) represented the main importer of sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers in the CIS, mixing up 61% of total import. Kyrgyzstan (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Azerbaijan (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons). All these countries together took near 33% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +49.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In terms of the main importing countries, Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +57.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, surging by 9.1% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Azerbaijan (+9.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
