Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a perceptible slump. Total exports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, synthetic filament tow exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports showed a slight setback. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Belarus (X tons) was the major exporter of synthetic filament tow and staple fibers, not carded or combed, mixing up 74% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons) and Russia (X tons), together mixing up a 25% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to synthetic filament tow exports from Belarus stood at -1.5%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+57.4%) and Russia (+25.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +57.4% from 2012-2021. Uzbekistan (+17 p.p.) and Russia (+6.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Belarus saw its share reduced by -23.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the largest synthetic filament tow supplier in the CIS, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 17% share of total exports.

In Belarus, synthetic filament tow exports decreased by an average annual rate of -4.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Uzbekistan (+48.4% per year) and Russia (+17.7% per year).

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 50% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (-3.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, the amount of synthetic filament tow and staple fibers, not carded or combed imported in the CIS reached X tons, with an increase of 9.4% against 2020 figures. Total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +71.1% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 22%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Total imports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last nine-year period. Russia prevails in imports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 81% of total imports in 2021. Belarus (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Uzbekistan (X tons). All these countries together held near 13% share of total imports. The following importers - Kazakhstan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) - each accounted for a 3.9% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to synthetic filament tow imports into Russia stood at +2.9%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+28.9%), Kyrgyzstan (+19.0%), Belarus (+11.2%) and Kazakhstan (+8.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +28.9% from 2012-2021. While the share of Uzbekistan (+5.9 p.p.) and Belarus (+3.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Russia (-12.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with an 8.3% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 6.9% share.
