In value terms, table flatware exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Belarus was the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached 86% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tons), generating a 10% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Belarus was also the fastest-growing in terms of the table flatware exports, with a CAGR of +64.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+30.2%) and Russia (+9.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Belarus (+74 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Russia saw its share reduced by -72.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Belarus ($X) emerged as the largest table flatware supplier in the CIS, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with a 32% share of total exports.

In Belarus, table flatware exports increased at an average annual rate of +51.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (+8.7% per year) and Uzbekistan (+84.4% per year).

In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -20.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price faced a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+41.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Table flatware imports shrank to X tons in 2022, falling by -8.8% compared with the year before. Overall, imports showed a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, table flatware imports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 77%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Russia was the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which amounted to 49% of total imports. Belarus (X tons) held a 17% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kazakhstan (12%), Azerbaijan (7.9%) and Uzbekistan (7.3%). Tajikistan (X tons) and Armenia (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to table flatware imports into Russia stood at -2.3%. At the same time, Belarus (+27.9%), Azerbaijan (+12.9%), Uzbekistan (+6.1%) and Armenia (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +27.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Tajikistan (-9.4%) and Kazakhstan (-14.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Belarus (+16 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+7.3 p.p.), Azerbaijan (+6.2 p.p.) and Russia (+3.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Tajikistan (-3.1 p.p.) and Kazakhstan (-28.3 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported table flatware in the CIS, comprising 61% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 7.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia totaled -1.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (-14.6% per year) and Belarus (+8.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -6.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tajikistan ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
