In value terms, tapered roller bearing exports rose remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a noticeable slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 96% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Russia prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 92% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), committing a 5.3% share of total exports. Kazakhstan (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Russia decreased at an average annual rate of -1.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+45.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +45.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Belarus (-8.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Kazakhstan (+2.7 p.p.) and Russia (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Belarus saw its share reduced by -4.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest tapered roller bearing supplier in the CIS, comprising 93% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 5.3% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia amounted to -2.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (-2.4% per year) and Kazakhstan (+27.8% per year).

In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 21% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+6.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, overseas purchases of tapered roller bearings increased by 5.7% to X tons, rising for the fifth consecutive year after three years of decline. Total imports indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +115.4% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 37%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, tapered roller bearing imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed measured growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 43%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Russia (X tons) was the major importer of tapered roller bearings, committing 75% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons), together creating a 22% share of total imports. Uzbekistan (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +10.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+71.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +71.2% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-2.3%) and Belarus (-10.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the import price increased by 23% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($X per ton), while Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
