Belarus (X tons) and Moldova (X tons) dominates exports structure, together mixing up 93% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), mixing up a 6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Kazakhstan (with a CAGR of +54.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Moldova ($X) remains the largest tapioca and substitutes supplier in the CIS, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 29% share of total exports.

In Moldova, tapioca and substitutes exports expanded at an average annual rate of +43.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belarus (+0.8% per year) and Kazakhstan (+66.3% per year).

In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, growing by 7% against the previous year. Export price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, tapioca and substitutes export price increased by +21.7% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 48% against the previous year. In 2021, approx. X tons of tapioca and substitutes were imported in the CIS; declining by -6.2% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, tapioca and substitutes imports dropped to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 65% against the previous year.
