Telephone Market Size in CIS

The CIS telephone market rose remarkably to $X in 2022, increasing by 5.9% against the previous year. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 8.5%. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, shipments abroad of telephones and videophones increased by 12% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 645%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, telephone exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 113%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Russia was the key exporting country with an export of around X units, which finished at 60% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X units), committing a 36% share of total exports. Armenia (X units) and Belarus (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Armenia (with a CAGR of +89.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In Russia, telephone exports increased at an average annual rate of +12.5% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+25.1% per year) and Armenia (+46.9% per year).

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 6.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by 31%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 9.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, telephone imports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Russia dominates imports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 78% of total imports in 2022. Kazakhstan (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Azerbaijan (X units). All these countries together took near 12% share of total imports. Belarus (X units) and Uzbekistan (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to telephone imports into Russia stood at -11.1%. At the same time, Azerbaijan (+33.4%) and Uzbekistan (+17.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Azerbaijan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +33.4% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-11.9%) and Belarus (-13.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 2.1% against the previous year. Import price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, telephone import price decreased by -29.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 46%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
