In 2021, overseas shipments of track suits, ski suits and swimwear increased by 48% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 96% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Kyrgyzstan (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 7.9% share, followed by Armenia (5.7%). Kazakhstan (X units) and Belarus (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Kazakhstan (with a CAGR of +74.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest sportswear supplier in the CIS, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 19% share.

In Russia, sportswear exports expanded at an average annual rate of +16.0% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (-3.3% per year) and Uzbekistan (+56.8% per year).

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the export price increased by 50%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per unit), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of track suits, ski suits and swimwear was finally on the rise to reach X units after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the import price increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
