Total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +103.5% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, unvulcanized rubber exports expanded significantly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +33.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 44% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the export price increased by 12%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus amounted to $X per ton.

Imports in CIS

In 2022, imports of unvulcanized rubber and articles thereof in the CIS dropped to X tons, falling by -6.7% on the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a noticeable descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 20%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, unvulcanized rubber imports declined to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 35%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Russia (X tons) was the largest importer of unvulcanized rubber and articles thereof, making up 65% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons), together comprising a 32% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to unvulcanized rubber imports into Russia stood at -3.7%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+28.5%) and Kazakhstan (+6.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +28.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-1.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan increased by +7.6 and +4.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported unvulcanized rubber and articles thereof in the CIS, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Kazakhstan, with a 9.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled -2.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (-2.7% per year) and Kazakhstan (+4.5% per year).

In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 12%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
