In 2022, approx. X tons of unwrought zinc alloys were exported in the CIS; growing by 40% against the year before. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 295%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, unwrought zinc alloys exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 264%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Kazakhstan was the key exporter of unwrought zinc alloys in the CIS, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 65% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), generating a 32% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +94.7%).
In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) remains the largest unwrought zinc alloys supplier in the CIS, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 31% share of total exports.
In Kazakhstan, unwrought zinc alloys exports expanded at an average annual rate of +26.0% over the period from 2012-2022.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Export price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, unwrought zinc alloys export price increased by +48.3% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 32% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan amounted to $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+6.4%).

Imports in CIS
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of unwrought zinc alloys, when their volume increased by 11% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 664%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, unwrought zinc alloys imports dropped slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 516% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Russia dominates imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 94% of total imports in 2022. The following importers - Belarus (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) - each amounted to a 5.3% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to unwrought zinc alloys imports into Russia stood at +26.8%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+286.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +286.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-2.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia and Uzbekistan increased by +28 and +2.6 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported unwrought zinc alloys in the CIS, comprising 91% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 4.8% share of total imports.
In Russia, unwrought zinc alloys imports increased at an average annual rate of +28.1% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (+3.6% per year) and Uzbekistan (+340.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, waning by -10.6% against the previous year. Import price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, unwrought zinc alloys import price increased by +16.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+13.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
