The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 295%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, unwrought zinc alloys exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 264%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Kazakhstan was the key exporter of unwrought zinc alloys in the CIS, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 65% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Uzbekistan (X tons), generating a 32% share of total exports.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, unwrought zinc alloys export price increased by +48.3% against 2020 indices. In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of unwrought zinc alloys, when their volume increased by 11% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 664%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, unwrought zinc alloys imports dropped slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 516% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Russia dominates imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was approx. 94% of total imports in 2022. The following importers - Belarus (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) - each amounted to a 5.3% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to unwrought zinc alloys imports into Russia stood at +26.8%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+286.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +286.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Belarus (-2.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Russia and Uzbekistan increased by +28 and +2.6 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported unwrought zinc alloys in the CIS, comprising 91% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 4.8% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+13.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
