Vaccine imports reduced sharply to X tons in 2022, waning by -29.7% compared with the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +17.7% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 67%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, vaccine imports fell notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 138% against the previous year. Russia (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) represented roughly 57% of total imports in 2022. Uzbekistan (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 13% share, followed by Belarus (11%), Tajikistan (8.2%) and Kyrgyzstan (5.2%). Azerbaijan (X tons) and Armenia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Tajikistan (with a CAGR of +11.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported vaccines for human medicine in the CIS, comprising 47% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Uzbekistan, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled +7.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kazakhstan (+2.0% per year) and Uzbekistan (+22.5% per year).
