Video Game Console Market Size in CIS

The CIS video game console market declined notably to $X in 2022, shrinking by -17.9% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia stood at +9.3%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Armenia (+255.8% per year) and Belarus (+30.2% per year).

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 42% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a deep reduction. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, video game console imports in the CIS dropped to X units, with a decrease of -6.4% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 229% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, video game console imports fell markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded resilient growth. Russia was the key importer of video game consoles in the CIS, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was approx. 51% of total imports in 2022. Armenia (X units) held a 30% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kazakhstan (11%). Kyrgyzstan (X units) and Belarus (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Armenia (with a CAGR of +81.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
