Exports in CIS
In 2021, the amount of vulcanised rubber thread and cord exported in the CIS soared to X tons, jumping by 26% on 2020. Overall, exports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 286%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, vulcanised rubber thread exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a temperate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 212%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Russia (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) dominates exports structure, together comprising 89% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X tons), achieving an 8.5% share of total exports. Armenia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Belarus (with a CAGR of +19.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest vulcanised rubber thread supplier in the CIS, comprising 61% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Tajikistan ($X), with a 29% share of total exports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 7.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Russia totaled +3.6%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tajikistan (+3.0% per year) and Belarus (+12.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a perceptible decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 18%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Russia ($X per ton) and Armenia ($X per ton), while Tajikistan ($X per ton) and Belarus ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tajikistan (-2.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
In 2021, overseas purchases of vulcanised rubber thread and cord increased by 2.3% to X tons, rising for the seventh year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 45%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, vulcanised rubber thread imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted a buoyant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Russia represented the largest importer of vulcanised rubber thread and cord in the CIS, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 57% of total imports in 2021. Uzbekistan (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Belarus (X tons). All these countries together held near 40% share of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +11.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+22.2%), Uzbekistan (+17.3%) and Belarus (+7.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +22.2% from 2012-2021. While the share of Uzbekistan (+24 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Belarus (-11.6 p.p.) and Russia (-13.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported vulcanised rubber thread and cord in the CIS, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Uzbekistan ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia stood at +12.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+25.1% per year) and Belarus (+3.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 23% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a mild shrinkage. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+6.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
