Winche And Capstan Market Size in CIS

The CIS winche and capstan market amounted to $X in 2021, growing by 1.9% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Exports in CIS

After three years of decline, overseas shipments of winches and capstans increased by 57% to X units in 2021. In general, exports posted resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 238%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, winche and capstan exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 130%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Belarus was the main exporting country with an export of around X units, which resulted at 63% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Russia (X units) and Kazakhstan (X units), together committing a 36% share of total exports.

Belarus was also the fastest-growing in terms of the winches and capstans exports, with a CAGR of +17.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Russia (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-7.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus increased by +37 percentage points.

In 2021, the export price in the CIS amounted to $X per unit, growing by 3.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the export price increased by 237%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (-1.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS

In 2021, approx. X units of winches and capstans were imported in the CIS; with an increase of 21% compared with 2020. Total imports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +154.5% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 74%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Russia prevails in imports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 90% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Belarus (X units), generating a 5.1% share of total imports. The following importers - Kazakhstan (X units) and Uzbekistan (X units) - each recorded a 4% share of total imports.

Imports into Russia increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Belarus (+18.1%) and Uzbekistan (+15.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Belarus emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +18.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-7.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Belarus (+3.4 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Kazakhstan (-4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported winches and capstans in the CIS, comprising 86% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 5.8% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with a 3.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Russia totaled +2.1%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (-9.1% per year) and Belarus (-8.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per unit in 2021, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the import price increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per unit), while Belarus ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
