In 2021, overseas shipments of x-ray generators decreased by -11.8% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, x-ray generator exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +17.6% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 50%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Belarus (X tons) represented the key exporter of x-ray generators, comprising 82% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Russia (X tons), generating an 18% share of total exports.

Exports from Belarus decreased at an average annual rate of -4.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Russia (+14.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Russia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +14.8% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Russia increased by +14 percentage points.

In value terms, Russia ($X) remains the largest x-ray generator supplier in the CIS, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Belarus ($X), with a 20% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 42% against the previous year. Export price indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, x-ray generator export price increased by +129.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Belarus totaled $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+2.3%).

In 2021, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of x-ray generators, when their volume decreased by -15.4% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a modest expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then fell sharply in the following year.

In value terms, x-ray generator imports dropped to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 48%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Russia (X tons) represented the key importer of x-ray generators, achieving 83% of total imports. Belarus (X tons) took a 10% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kazakhstan (5.1%).

Russia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of x-ray generators. At the same time, Kazakhstan (+10.1%) and Belarus (+5.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kazakhstan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in the CIS, with a CAGR of +10.1% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Belarus and Kazakhstan increased by +3.1 and +2.6 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported x-ray generators in the CIS, comprising 79% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belarus ($X), with a 10% share of total imports.

In Russia, x-ray generator imports declined by an average annual rate of -1.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Belarus (+11.1% per year) and Kazakhstan (+18.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 12% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a mild shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 17%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+7.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
