Man-made filament yarn exports totaled X tons in 2021, with an increase of 7.6% against the previous year. In general, exports, however, showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 49%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country
Belarus represented the largest exporter of man-made filament yarn in the CIS, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was near 56% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Moldova (X tons) and Russia (X tons), together making up a 40% share of total exports. Uzbekistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Moldova (with a CAGR of +80.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Belarus ($X) remains the largest man-made filament yarn supplier in the CIS, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Russia ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Moldova, with a 15% share.
In Belarus, man-made filament yarn exports declined by an average annual rate of -13.2% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Russia (-5.9% per year) and Moldova (+78.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 21% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while Moldova ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+8.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
In 2021, overseas purchases of man-made filament yarn increased by 11% to X tons, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 78%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, man-made filament yarn imports amounted to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +93.8% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 53%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons) and Uzbekistan (X tons) represented the main importers of man-made filament yarn in the CIS, together recording near 69% of total imports. Tajikistan (X tons) held a 14% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Belarus (6.1%) and Kazakhstan (5.1%). Azerbaijan (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +92.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported man-made filament yarn in the CIS, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Uzbekistan ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Belarus, with an 11% share.
In Russia, man-made filament yarn imports increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Uzbekistan (+80.2% per year) and Belarus (-0.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in the CIS amounted to $X per ton, falling by -1.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a mild slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
