The CIS yoghurt market fell to $X in 2022, which is down by -9% against the previous year. In general, consumption continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then fell slightly in the following year.
In value terms, yoghurt exports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 25% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Belarus (X tons) and Russia (X tons) represented the largest exporters of yoghurt in the CIS, together creating 86% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), generating a 13% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Kazakhstan (with a CAGR of +45.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest yoghurt supplying countries in the CIS were Belarus ($X), Russia ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X), with a combined 99% share of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Kazakhstan, with a CAGR of +37.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

The export price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -2.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+1.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in CIS
After six years of growth, supplies from abroad of yoghurt decreased by -52.5% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports recorded a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 33%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then fell significantly in the following year.
In value terms, yoghurt imports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Belarus (X tons), distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X tons), Moldova (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Azerbaijan (X tons) represented the main importers of yoghurt, together generating 96% of total imports. Armenia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +52.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Belarus ($X), Moldova ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 74% share of total imports. Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Azerbaijan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 25%.
Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +59.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in the CIS stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -4.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a slight contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Moldova ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+4.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
