The Colombian other cereals market skyrocketed to $X in 2021, increasing by 33% against the previous year. In general, consumption recorded significant growth. Canada (X tons) was the main destination for other cereals exports from Colombia, accounting for a 67% share of total exports. Moreover, other cereals exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Guatemala (X tons), with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Canada stood at +43.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+33.7% per year) and Guatemala (+6.7% per year).
In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for other cereals exports from Colombia, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Guatemala, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Canada amounted to +52.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+48.7% per year) and Guatemala (+4.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average other cereals export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 67% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 85% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Colombia
After four years of growth, overseas purchases of other cerealses decreased by -41.2% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, posted a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 138%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
In value terms, other cereals imports fell remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, posted perceptible growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 122%. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
India (X tons), Bolivia (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons) were the main suppliers of other cereals imports to Colombia, with a combined 91% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Ecuador (with a CAGR of +25.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Bolivia ($X), India ($X) and the United States ($X) appeared to be the largest other cereals suppliers to Colombia, with a combined 85% share of total imports. Ecuador and Peru lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 15%.
Ecuador, with a CAGR of +24.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average other cereals import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 2.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 19%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
