The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

The United States (X tons) was the main destination for green coffee exports from Colombia, accounting for a 41% share of total exports. Moreover, green coffee exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Canada (X tons), with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the United States totaled +5.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+9.7% per year) and Canada (+5.7% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) remains the key foreign market for coffee (green) exports from Colombia, comprising 41% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with an 8% share of total exports. It was followed by Canada, with an 8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the United States amounted to +3.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Belgium (+3.4% per year) and Canada (+4.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average green coffee export price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -11% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 28%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Australia ($X per ton) and the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Finland ($X per ton) and Japan ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (-0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Colombia
After two years of growth, overseas purchases of coffee (green) decreased by -18.9% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 179% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, green coffee imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 235% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Brazil (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of green coffee to Colombia, with a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, green coffee imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Peru (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Honduras (X tons), with an 8.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Brazil amounted to +28.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Peru (-5.8% per year) and Honduras (+26.4% per year).
In value terms, Brazil ($X) constituted the largest supplier of coffee (green) to Colombia, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Peru ($X), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by Honduras, with a 6.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Brazil amounted to +24.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Peru (-9.7% per year) and Honduras (+30.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average green coffee import price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -7.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 24% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ecuador ($X per ton), while the price for Honduras ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
