Ether Market Size in Colombia

The Colombian ether market fell markedly to $X in 2022, which is down by -21.8% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In 2022, the amount of ethers exported from Colombia reduced notably to X tons, which is down by -18% against 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 1,131%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, ether exports fell remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 537%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Ecuador (X tons), Venezuela (X tons) and Chile (X tons) were the main destinations of ether exports from Colombia, together accounting for 94% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Chile (with a CAGR of +53.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Venezuela ($X), Ecuador ($X) and Chile ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for ether exported from Colombia worldwide, with a combined 90% share of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, Chile, with a CAGR of +41.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average ether export price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -2.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 37% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ecuador ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ecuador (-2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 40% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ether imports shrank notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 89% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then reduced notably in the following year.

In 2022, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of ether to Colombia, accounting for a 68% share of total imports. Moreover, ether imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), ninefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Germany (X tons), with a 4.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the United States was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+13.5% per year) and Germany (+3.1% per year).

In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of ethers to Colombia, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from the United States was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+6.6% per year) and Germany (-2.5% per year).

The average ether import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -10% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 35%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then declined in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
