In 2021, approx. X kg of fishing rods and other line fishing tackle were exported from Colombia; jumping by 86% on 2020 figures. Overall, exports, however, showed a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 126% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fishing rod exports expanded to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 96%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Costa Rica (X kg) was the main destination for fishing rod exports from Colombia, with a 37% share of total exports. Moreover, fishing rod exports to Costa Rica exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, France (X kg), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Canada (X kg), with a 9.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Costa Rica stood at -3.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (+13.8% per year) and Canada (-26.5% per year).

In value terms, France ($X), Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) and Canada ($X) were the largest markets for fishing rod exported from Colombia worldwide, together accounting for 56% of total exports.

Taiwan (Chinese), with a CAGR of +2,675.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average fishing rod export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, which is down by -44.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, enjoyed notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 285% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Honduras ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+105.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of fishing rods and other line fishing tackle increased by 99% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, fishing rod imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted a perceptible increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest fishing rod supplier to Colombia, with a 76% share of total imports. Moreover, fishing rod imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (X tons), fivefold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +1.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+4.9% per year) and Estonia (+31.2% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of fishing rods and other line fishing tackle to Colombia, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($X), with a 21% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +1.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+10.4% per year) and Estonia (+21.8% per year).
