The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +48.5% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 38%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, herbicide imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +66.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

China (X tons), Free Zones (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) were the main suppliers of herbicide imports to Colombia, together comprising 87% of total imports. India, Mexico, Guatemala and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 9.5%.
