In value terms, keyboards exports dropped significantly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a modest expansion. In 2022, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of keyboards, when their volume decreased by -12.4% to X units. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +80.8% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, keyboards imports fell to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a measured expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 29%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest keyboards supplier to Colombia, accounting for a 71% share of total imports. Moreover, keyboards imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Vietnam (X units), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was held by India (X units), with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +8.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+68.2% per year) and India (+29.9% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of keyboards to Colombia, comprising 83% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($X), with a 3.2% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 3.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +6.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+53.5% per year) and the United States (-8.3% per year).

In 2022, the average keyboards import price amounted to $X per unit, standing approx. at the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 38% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while the price for India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+20.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
