Over the period under review, imports showed a dramatic slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 49% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, magnetic media imports fell remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 9%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Japan (X units) was the main supplier of magnetic media to Colombia, accounting for a 92% share of total imports. Moreover, magnetic media imports from Japan exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X units), more than tenfold. China (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 0.6% share.
