As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, natural polymers exports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 81% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The United States (X tons), Ecuador (X tons) and Guyana (X tons) were the main destinations of natural polymers exports from Colombia, together accounting for 85% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Guyana (with a CAGR of +56.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($X), Ecuador ($X) and Peru ($X) were the largest markets for natural polymers exported from Colombia worldwide, with a combined 83% share of total exports. Guyana, Brazil and Venezuela lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.
Among the main countries of destination, Guyana, with a CAGR of +120.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, the average natural polymers export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 19% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average export price increased by 34% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Peru ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Guyana ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Guyana (+41.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of natural and modified natural polymers in primary forms, when their volume increased by 91% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a slight decrease. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of natural polymers to Colombia, with a 78% share of total imports. Moreover, natural polymers imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), more than tenfold. Austria (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +4.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-16.6% per year) and Austria (+16.2% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of natural and modified natural polymers in primary forms to Colombia, comprising 59% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 7.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China amounted to -1.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-10.0% per year) and France (-1.8% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 29%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
