The Colombian playing cards market declined to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -9.7% against the previous year. In 2022, overseas shipments of playing cards increased by 18% to X kg for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Canada (X kg) was the main destination for playing cards exports from Colombia, accounting for a 65% share of total exports. Moreover, playing cards exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Panama (X kg), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (X kg), with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Canada totaled +71.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Panama (-1.4% per year) and the United States (+15.6% per year).
In value terms, Canada ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for playing cards exports from Colombia, comprising 87% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with a 3.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Panama, with a 1.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Canada totaled +99.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+10.2% per year) and Panama (-7.7% per year).

In 2022, the average playing cards export price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -38.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 256%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Panama ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+16.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, purchases abroad of playing cards decreased by -3.2% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -3.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, playing cards imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +18.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 64% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, China (X tons) was the main playing cards supplier to Colombia, accounting for a 92% share of total imports. Moreover, playing cards imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +9.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+11.0% per year) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-12.7% per year).
In value terms, China ($X), the United States ($X) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) were the largest playing cards suppliers to Colombia, with a combined 88% share of total imports.
Among the main suppliers, the United States, with a CAGR of +13.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
Import Prices by Country
The average playing cards import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -10.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 37% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
