Polyamide Market Size in Colombia

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -12.7% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 82%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, polyamide exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +37.3% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 91%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; afterwards, it flattened through to 2021.

Mexico (X tons), Peru (X tons) and Ecuador (X tons) were the main destinations of polyamide exports from Colombia, together accounting for 81% of total exports.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for polyamides (in primary forms) exports from Colombia, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Ecuador ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Peru, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Mexico totaled +154.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ecuador (+7.0% per year) and Peru (-6.9% per year).

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of polyamide imports to Colombia, together comprising 57% of total imports. These countries were followed by China, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Brazil, South Korea and Canada, which together accounted for a further 39%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +38.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest polyamide suppliers to Colombia were Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), the United States ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 54% share of total imports. These countries were followed by China, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Brazil, South Korea and Canada, which together accounted for a further 40%.

Among the main suppliers, Italy, with a CAGR of +29.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average polyamide import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 24% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a slight descent. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United States ($X per ton) and China ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) and the Netherlands ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
