Reclaimed Rubber Market Size in Colombia

In 2021, after two years of growth, there was decline in the Colombian reclaimed rubber market, when its value decreased by -3.7% to $X. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The average reclaimed rubber export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, jumping by 56% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Costa Rica ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey amounted to $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+47.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Colombia

In 2021, approx. X tons of reclaimed rubber were imported into Colombia; rising by 33% compared with the previous year. In general, imports showed a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 2,619%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, reclaimed rubber imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 1,353%. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, China (X tons) constituted the largest reclaimed rubber supplier to Colombia, accounting for a 71% share of total imports. Moreover, reclaimed rubber imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X tons), threefold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from China amounted to +23.8%.

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of reclaimed rubber to Colombia, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 25% share of total imports.

In 2021, the average reclaimed rubber import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 36% against the previous year.
