Brazil (X tons) was the main destination for refined lead exports from Colombia, accounting for a 69% share of total exports. Moreover, refined lead exports to Brazil exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X tons), fivefold. Ecuador (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 13% share.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) remains the key foreign market for refined lead (unwrought) exports from Colombia, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Ecuador, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Brazil stood at +41.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+25.6% per year) and Ecuador (+35.8% per year).

The average refined lead export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, falling by -5.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a mild shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 19%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, purchases abroad of refined lead (unwrought) decreased by -12.4% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 41% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, refined lead imports reduced sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 60%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Ecuador (X tons), Peru (X tons) and Venezuela (X tons) were the main suppliers of refined lead imports to Colombia, with a combined 59% share of total imports. Aruba, Mexico, Germany and South Korea lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 39%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Germany (with a CAGR of +30.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest refined lead suppliers to Colombia were Aruba ($X), Ecuador ($X) and Venezuela ($X), with a combined 58% share of total imports.
